Objective:  To impart the knowledge and skills to safely, comfortably, efficiently, and consistently carry a pistol in the appendix position (inside front waistband). The AIWB carry method has seen a resurgence in popularity over the past decade as many manufactures are now producing a new generation of holsters designated for this manner of carry. AIWB carry offers the advantages of enhanced concealability, retention, and speed but without proper training this carry style can result in an increased risk of negligent discharge and potential injury. This two-day course will give students a strong foundation of skills and repetitive practice—both dry-fire and live-fire—necessary to achieve the best results for a lifestyle of AIWB concealed carry.

Instructor:  Brian Fitzpatrick—Retired police sergeant and law enforcement/civilian firearms instructor. Brian has carried AIWB for over thirty years while off-duty, working undercover, and in retirement. He has published magazine articles on handgun holsters and consulted with manufacturers, resulting in improvements to various AIWB holsters.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Firearms Safety
  • Overview—the evolution and current trends in IWB and AIWB holsters
  • Holster selection, adjustments, ride height, cant, sweat guard height, Kydex vs. leather
  • Indexing pistol grip, presentation and safe re-holstering
  • Transitional grip vs. master grip (when each is appropriate)
  • Concealment issues and printing mitigation
  • Dry-fire repetitions and live-fire drills
