Objective: Students will apply knowledge and skills from earlier combat medical training (Dark Angel Medical’s DART Seminar, TCCC, TECC, Stop-the-Bleed, or other combat medical education) while navigating a tactical environment, while under fire or under threat of deadly force. Through various drills and workshops, this course will emphasize safe gun handling and manipulation, accurate threat suppression, self-aid, assisting an injured partner, providing appropriate medical intervention for a wounded team/family member or others, and evacuating casualties from the kill zone.
Instructors: 1) Ross Francis—Former US Navy Corpsman and military contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan, current nationally certified paramedic and Dark Angel Medical, LLC instructor. 2) Brian Fitzpatrick—Retired police sergeant, CA POST Active Shooter Response Instructor, two-time Medal of Valor recipient.
Topics Covered Include:
- Firearms Safety—Safe firearms handling and manipulation in a tactical environment
- Marksmanship warm-up and review (shooting with dominant & other dominant hand)
- Partner concepts/blocking techniques
- Shooting while moving techniques
- Safely interfacing with first responders
- Use of cover and concealment
- Wounded operator—firearms Injury accommodation/threat suppression/self-treatment
- Wounded team member assist—Threat suppression/treatment & evacuation
- Remote Rescue and evacuation of a downed team member or civilian victim
- Mass casualty event considerations
Prerequisite Training: Intermediate Pistol plus DART, TCCC, TECC, STB or equivalent
Required Equipment: A center fire semi-automatic pistol, minimum three magazines, strong side OWB holster (no Serpas), belt pouches for a minimum two extra mags, sturdy belt, eye & hearing protection. Medical training aids provided. You can train with your own kit (using our components).
Ammunition: 350 rounds
Tuition: $295.00. “A Place to Shoot” also charges a $15.00 daily fee per shooter at check-in station (cash or check only).
